Description: Officers from the 79th precinct in Brooklyn escorted an enthusiastic group of walkers on their annual breastfeeding walk through the Bedford-Stuyvesant community on Friday, August 2, 2019. For the past 11 years, this event has been hosted by the Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center WIC Program in partnership with the Office of Council Member Robert E. Breast Feed Walk 2019
Breastfeeding Recognition and Shower

Description: This event was held to recognize our breastfeeding mothers as well as to promote breastfeeding as the optimal means of infant feeding among prenatal. This effort was to encourage breastfeeding as the preferred and appropriate first food source for infants and to improve the rates of breastfeeding initiation and duration among community residents.

The keynote speaker, Ewel Napier spoke about ‘’Creating a More Breastfeeding Friendly Bed-Stuy.’’ The event was well attended by about 50 participants.
